'Y Gadair Wag' Poetry Show - 21 August 2017
Literature Wales will present a new poetry show by Ifor ap Glyn, the National Poet of Wales during September this year, opening at Neuadd Trawsfynydd on 6 September 2017, a hundred years to the day since the Black Chair ceremony was held at Eisteddfod at Birkenhead.
Y Gadair Wag (The Empty Chair) revisits the life and poetry of Hedd Wyn in a multimedia poetry show, exploring themes relevant to Wales today which reflect Hedd Wyn’s story and that of many families of the First World War, such as loss during war, refugees seeking shelter and the relationship between Wales and other European nations.
Y Gadair Wag forms part of the wider Barddoniaeth Colled | Poetry of Loss project, delivered by Literature Wales and funded by the Welsh Government’s Cymru’n Cofio – Wales Remembers 1914-1918 First World War Centenary Programme.
