Archaeological Walk - 18 June 2022

Archaeological walk to the top of Craig Laseithin and around Llyn Gelli Gain from the home of Hedd Wyn, Yr Ysgwrn

June 18, 2022 (10:00 am - up to 5 hours)

Come for a walk around the beautiful Trawsfynydd area. We will start at Yr Ysgwrn and visit a series of archaeological sites.

We will look at Bronze Age burial sites, Iron Age roundhouses and fields, kilns and Roman road, and the remains of medieval homes.

We will also look at military features associated with the area as it was used as a firing range in the early 1900's until the 1950's.

The whole walk will offer wonderful views (weather permitting!), including spectacular views of the valley from the top of Craig Laseithin, and a picnic on the shores of Gelli Gain.

The walk will be led by Snowdonia National Park archaeologist John Roberts and other colleagues from Snowdonia National Park.

When: June 18, 10am (everyone to assemble at 9:45 am)
Where: Yr Ysgwrn car park, Trawsfynydd
